Hands on Practice, Lesson 2: Customers

In this lesson, you will learn all about how to create, find, edit, print, and delete a customer.  This lesson assumes that you have read the Quick Start Guide and completed Lesson 1.

Creating Customers

Complete the following scenarios:

  1. Create a new customer using real data from one of your customers.  Try to fill in as many of the fields that you can.  Show Me

  2. Create a new customer.  Enter “CustomerABC” for the Company Name.  Set the Address Type to "Both".   Enter any information you would like for the following fields:  Primary Contact, Title, Address Line 1, City, State, Zip, and Phone.  Show Me

  3. Create a new customer.  Enter “Customer123” for the Company Name.  Set the Address Type to "Both".   Enter any information you would like for the following fields:  Primary Contact, Title, Address Line 1, City, State, Zip, and Phone.  Show Me

  4. Create a Ship To customer for “CustomerABC”.  Enter any information you would like for the following fields:  Primary Contact, Title, Address Line 1, City, State, Zip, and Phone.  Show Me

Finding Customers

Now that you have created some customers, lets practice the various ways of finding them.  (Note:  You will find that some of these steps are very similar to those in the previous lesson.)

Complete the following scenarios:

  1. Use the Simple Search form to find “CustomerABC” by the Contact First Name.  Show Me

  2. Use the Simple Search form to find “Customer123” by the Contact Last Name.  Show Me

  3. Use the Simple Search form to find “CustomerABC” by the Company Name.  Show Me

  9. Use the Summary of Customers & Prospects form to find all the customers that have a zip code beginning with “888”.  Show Me

  10. Use the Summary of Customers & Prospects form to find all the customers that are located in the city of “Irvine”.  Show Me

  11. Use the Summary of Customers & Prospects form to find all the customers that are located in the city of “Miami” or “Los Angeles”.  Show Me

  12. Use the Summary of Customers & Prospects form to find any customer by the last four digits of their phone number.  Show Me

  13. Use the Summary of Customers & Prospects form to find the customer that comes last in the alphabet.  Do this without scrolling down to the bottom of the list.  Use an option from the right-click menu.  Show Me

  14. Use the Summary of Customers & Prospects form to find all the customers that fall under the type of “Prospect”.  Show Me

  15. Use the Customers & Prospects form to find all the customers that begin with the letter “L”.  Show Me

  16. Use the Customers & Prospects form to find a customer with a contact that has the Last Name of “Smith”.  Do this using filtering options.  Show Me

  17. Use the Customers & Prospects form to find all the customers that are in the State of California.  Show Me

Editing Customers

Complete the following scenarios:

  1. Edit the Products/Services field of “CustomerABC”.  Show Me

Printing Customers

Complete the following scenarios:

  1. Print a summary of all the customers and their addresses by using the Summary of Customers & Prospects form.  Show Me

Deleting Customers
